Smith, Parramatta

The guys from Circa have done it again - opening their newest Parramatta venture just last month. This is the third Parramatta cafe from the Circa team and it's fantastic how much these guys are single-handedly changing the face of the Parramatta food scene - bringing us great food, great coffee (and tea) and great looking, quirky cafes. Join me in crossing your fingers in hoping they never leave our 'hood!

Smith Tea + Coffee can be found in a beautiful old building down Batman Walk and like the name suggests they specialize in tea and coffee....and that's it!

Smith is a cafe made for the true coffee aficionado. Along with specialty teas and single origin coffee, they'll soon be roasting their own beans - I cannot wait to try some of their house-roasted coffee! I imagine the area around the cafe is going to smell amazing - roasting coffee is a wonderful smell.

I visited Smith in their first week and it's already become a popular local cafe. Along with specialty coffees they also do "normal" coffees like lattes and cappuccinos so they cater for everyone's caffeine needs!

I decide to try the cold drip ($4.00) on my visit which on this occasion is a Panama Single Origin. This is a lovely coffee,  served black with no distractions such as milk, mineral water or ice-cubes. The coffee has a lovely fruity end note and quite a mild flavour. I always find the flavour of cold drip coffees very subtle, almost like a fruity, black tea.

The coffees at Smith will change on a regular basis with coffee from the in-house roastery and elsewhere too. I think it's going to be fun to come in and try different types and styles of coffee as they are on offer.

Like I said, Smith is all about the coffee...and the tea, but if you are hungry there is a (very) small selection of cakes on offer.

You'll find Smith on Batman Walk, off Macquarie Street, Parramatta. At the moment they are only open Monday to Friday.

  1. Love the fruity and floral notes of Panama filter coffee! Can't wait to try out Smith! LOL "normal" coffee. They are normally just referred to as espresso-based drinks or espresso coffee hehehe

  2. This is great news, can't wait to try it out. I sometime get a bit embarrassed asking for a "normal" coffee these days as I feel like a bit of a philistine!

  4. When I heard the news that someone broke in while they were still renovating the place, it was pretty sad. Glad to see it opened up and being such a success! I do love a good cold drip.

Looks like a great addition to the neighbourhood. Love the strategically-placed bike out the front too. Heh.
