Hog's Breath Cafe, Richmond

Despite our day of eating, shopping, eating and more eating in Leura I start to feel rather peckish on our drive back to Sydney. In fact not just peckish, but ravenous...and I wanted needed steak! The Boy promised to pull into the first place he sees that will satisfy my cravings...bless his cotton socks.

We taking the Bells Line of Road home, which weaves down the mountainside and deposits us in Richmond.  Right opposite the RAAF base is a Hog's Breath Cafe. We nearly miss it as we were rubber necking at the huge RAAF planes all parked for the night, but with some smooth driving moves The Boy makes the turn and my steak cravings are well on their way to be sated.

Hog's Breath Cafe has a bit of an "American" vibe to it - big chunky wooden furniture, quirky items decorating the walls (like old water skies, cash registers, saws, number plates - you get the picture).  A waitress bounces up to us and announces"hi, my name is Tiffany and I'll be your server for the night".  Well hello Tiffany...bring us two beers, and promptly they arrive. Like magic.  Yes, the are light beers - 'cos we're soft!

The menu here is quite extensive, ranging from salads, burgers and wraps, chicken, fish and ribs. I'm here for one thing only though - STEAK!

Despite the huge selection of steak to choose from I decide to keep it simple and order a Natural Prime Rib ($21.95 for a small sized cut).

  12. I think I'm almost ready to hit up Hogs Breath again. My Mr & I decided on a few days off mid winter, mid week in Batemans Bay area & the ONLY restaurant opened when we were a huntin' for food turned out to the Hogs Breath..... again & again. Sure ate a lot of meat over a few days we did, all pretty good too I have to say :)

  13. Haven't visited a Hog's Breath for years, and the only reason we used to go was for the curly fries. Then I discovered you can buy them at Aldi .... :-)

  15. Haha, oh Hog's Breath... decent food for a chain restaurant, but after some nasty experiences working at a local outpost when I was 16, I can never visit another one again :p

Glad you enjoyed your meal though! I never tried a dessert there.
