The Piggy's have landed!

We're finally back from our two week stint in Hawaii.  So sad.

The Boy and I had a FABULOUS time and could highly recommend Hawaii to anyone (and everyone).  We're already dreaming of our next trip back to explore more of Oahu and all of the other islands.

Waikiki Beach

Volcano

The Hawaiian people are all uber-lovely and the food! The food is great and plentiful. We tried a lot of traditional Hawaiian food like Kalua Pig and Poi (pulverised taro - an acquired taste I think), and pigged out at the American chain restaurants like Denny's and IHOP.  We ate at food courts and a few fancy places too.  So much food and so little time!

Baked Manapua from Royal Kitchen in Chinatown - sooo yummy!

Legendary Hula Pie from Duke's Canoe Club

Kalua Pig with Cabbage and Rice - oh so good!

Slab of ribs from Da Smokehouse

As American as Apple Pie

Shave Ice - even Obama loves it!

Spam, Hawaii loves it more than any other USA state.

Cheeseburger in Paradise

I weighed myself this morning and I'm at least 2kgs heavier now than I was when we left...lucky my belly didn't have to pay excess baggage on the flight home.

So, watch this space peoples as I'll have lots of blog updates in the coming weeks about our great eating holiday honeymoon in Hawaii.

  1. I don't think 2kg is much, as long as you can still fit behind your desk.

  3. Welcome back! That poor piece of apple pie looks like it's collapsing under the weight of the scoops of ice-cream *faint*

  4. Welcome back. 2 kilos? You can't have been trying hard enough. That's what I normally put on just over Christmas. Hope to see you soon.

  5. Yay you're back! I really need to try that Kalua pig - next Jetstar sale I'm there. Or maybe the Philipines, or Japan again, or Bali - too much food in the world!

  7. Hi M-H - I might take over the bean bag for a few days until my tummy can fit behind my desk again.

Hi Jane - thanks! Hawaii is great, could totally recommend it.

Hi Shawn - thanks...and many YUMS!

Hi mademoiselle - the pie was pretty good. The mountain of ice-cream helped it all go down nicely!

Hi Beati3 - we did put on 17kgs in our luggage. I think that is a pretty good effort.

Hi Alison - we're going to try and make the piggy at home...just need to get hold of "liquid smoke". I need to book another holiday ASAP!

Hi Helen - we did try spam sushi and I thought it was pretty tasty. Long live spam.

  8. YUm! I had almost forgotten how huge American servings are although I don't think I'd have any issues finishing the serves off!

  10. Hi gastronomous - we had a great time. You should go for sure. Waikiki is a bit like the Gold Coast, but I hear the rest of Hawaii is delightfully quite and a tropical paradise. Wish I was there right now.
